German sizes: the conversion guide for Morocco
Updated on 15 October 2026
How to convert a German size in Morocco: women's clothing (German 38 = French 40), men's, W/L jeans, kids and babies (size = height in cm), bras (German 75B = French 90B) and shoes.
Quick answer
In Morocco sizes are read the French way. For numeric women's sizes, add 2 to the German size (38 → 40). Numeric men's sizes and letter sizes are the same. German kids' and baby sizes are height in centimetres (104 = about 1.04 m, 3-4 years). For bras, add 15 to the underbust number (75B → 90B). European shoe sizes are identical.
Women's clothing
German sizing runs two points below French sizing: a German 38 dress is a French 40, the size you would ask for in a Moroccan shop. Letter sizes (S, M, L) read the same on both sides. If you are between two sizes, take the larger one. See women's clothing.
| Germany | France / Morocco | Letters |
|---|---|---|
| 32 | 34 | XS |
| 34 | 36 | XS |
| 36 | 38 | S |
| 38 | 40 | M |
| 40 | 42 | M |
| 42 | 44 | L |
| 44 | 46 | XL |
| 46 | 48 | XL |
| 48 | 50 | XXL |
| 50 | 52 | XXL |
Men's clothing
Good news: numeric men's sizes (46, 48, 50…) are the same in Germany and France. German labels often combine letter and number, such as "M 48/50". See men's clothing.
| Letters | Germany = France / Morocco |
|---|---|
| S | 44/46 |
| M | 48/50 |
| L | 52/54 |
| XL | 56/58 |
| XXL | 60/62 |
| 3XL | 64/66 |
Jeans: reading a W/L size
A "32/32" size first gives the waist (W), then the inside leg length (L), in inches. One inch is 2.54 cm: W32 is about 81 cm around the waist, L32 about 81 cm of leg. Measure a pair of jeans that fits you, laid flat, and compare.
| W (inches) | Waist |
|---|---|
| 28 | ≈ 71 cm |
| 30 | ≈ 76 cm |
| 32 | ≈ 81 cm |
| 34 | ≈ 86 cm |
| 36 | ≈ 91 cm |
| 38 | ≈ 97 cm |
| 40 | ≈ 102 cm |
Kids (92 to 176)
In Germany, a child's size is their height in centimetres: a 116 fits a child about 1.16 m tall. Age is only a guide — measure your child standing, barefoot. Double sizes ("110/116") cover both heights. See kids' clothing.
| German size | Approximate age |
|---|---|
| 92 | 18-24 months |
| 98 | 2-3 years |
| 104 | 3-4 years |
| 110 | 4-5 years |
| 116 | 5-6 years |
| 122 | 6-7 years |
| 128 | 7-8 years |
| 134 | 8-9 years |
| 140 | 9-10 years |
| 146 | 10-11 years |
| 152 | 11-12 years |
| 158 | 12-13 years |
| 164 | 13-14 years |
| 170 | 14-15 years |
| 176 | 15-16 years |
Babies (50 to 86)
Same principle as for kids: the size is the baby's length in centimetres. Babies grow fast and every brand sizes a little differently: if in doubt, size up. See baby clothing and baby pyjamas.
| German size | Approximate age |
|---|---|
| 50 | newborn |
| 56 | 1 month |
| 62 | 2-3 months |
| 68 | 4-6 months |
| 74 | 6-9 months |
| 80 | 9-12 months |
| 86 | 12-18 months |
Bras
The German number is the underbust in centimetres; the French size adds 15. The cup (A, B, C, D) keeps the same letter. Measure just under the bust with the tape level. See bras and bralettes.
| Germany | France / Morocco |
|---|---|
| 70B | 85B |

Shoes and socks
European shoe sizes are the same in Germany, France and Morocco: a 38 stays a 38. German socks are sold by size range ("39-42" fits sizes 39 to 42). See shoes.
